As we look forward to 2020 where we will continue to provide and develop charging solutions to electric vehicle drivers across the country, we thought we would look back at some our top highlights for the Polar network from last year.
Here are some of our biggest highlights:
Our highlight for 2019 has been the successful launch of our public 150kW ultra-fast chargers. We have committed to installing a network of them across the country over the coming years.
The first 150kW units were installed at BP Cranford in Hounslow in August, where BP Chargemaster held a preview event for our Polar subscribers, who were the first customers in the UK to use the new chargers, alongside Fully Charged Show host, Robert Llewellyn. We have been delighted to see so many EV drivers using our newest generation of charge points.
The 2019 roll out also included four 150kW units installed at BP Hammersmith; London’s first ultra-fast public charging hub, closely followed by BP Colchester and BP SF Malpas.
Mitchells and Butlers partnership
This year, BP Chargemaster announced the roll out of 200 rapid chargers at Mitchells & Butlers sites. 50kW Ultracharge rapid chargers will be installed at pubs and restaurants across the country, with units installed at over 50 sites in 2019.
Richard Turner, Head of Supplied Management at Mitchells & Butlers, said: “We recognise the importance of providing somewhere for EV users to charge their cars, whilst also giving them the opportunity ti stop off for a coffee, or even a bite to eat, which is how our pubs and restaurants will play a vital part.”
We are moving!
BP Chargemaster was excited to announced that we will be moving our company headquarters to a new purpose-built facility in Milton Keynes in 2020. The new headquarters will house both our main office, including the Customer Services and Homecharge teams, and our manufacturing facilities, and is planned to be triple the size of our existing facility. BP Chargemaster continue to be one of the only UK based manufacturer of electric vehicle charging points.
Construction work is well underway at the new site, and we look forward to starting our move!
Introducing Smart Homecharge
2019 also saw the introduction of our new Smart Homecharge unit, officially revealed at Fully Charged Live and now available to customers. The new generation of BP Chargemaster’s Homecharge unit enables customers to monitor and control their charging through the app or web portal.
Celebrating two years of the EV Experience Centre
In 2017, BP Chargemaster launched the UK’s first electric vehicle education centre in Milton Keynes, alongside Milton Keynes Council and the Go Ultra Low initiative. This year we celebrated two years of the EVEC in operation, a fantastic milestone for the centre and the team.
The EV Experience Centre has been key in promoting electric vehicles both in the Milton Keynes area and across the UK. As of June 2019, the EVEC reached over 100,000 visitors and over 4,000 short term and long-term test drives!
The Centre continues to partner with EV manufacturers such as BMW i, Renault and Volkswagen, and also welcome MINI as a new test drive partner; adding two brand-new MINI Countryman plug-in hybrids to the existing fleet of experience vehicles.
Fully Charged Live
BP Chargemaster partnered the Fully Charged team this year as the Experience Partner, and had the opportunity to talk about the future of EV charging with over 100,000 visitors throughout the 3-day event.
We started off this fantastic event with a special unveiling of BP Chargemaster’s brand-new 150kW ultra-fast charging unit. The official unveiling was by Fully Charged hosts, Robert Llewellyn, Jonny Smith, Helen Czerski and Maddie Moate, and the new newly designed unit was on display during the event and received some fantastic feedback from visitors.
We are delighted to be supporting Fully Charged Live again in 2020 – this year at Farnborough International – and look forward to seeing you there!
New Polar Points Reward scheme introduced
The Polar network introduced a new loyalty programme for subscription members, allowing customers to redeem Polar points for selected rewards, including free months of membership and retail vouchers.
Taking the place of the Polar EV Experience, the new scheme aims to offer a fairer and more accessible and beneficial loyalty programme, and is available now through joining up via our Polar network or ChargeNow websites.
The Polar network remains one of the only public charging networks offering a structured loyalty programme for customers.
Charge points installed
2019 has been a productive year for our team with plenty of charge points installed on our public network, Polar, at workplaces across the UK, and by our Homecharge team. Our dedicated installation teams have been instrumental in ensuring all our different products are installed to a high quality and safe standard for our customers.
We are proud to have installed over 7,000 charge points in 2019, including public and private units, Homecharge units and our 150kW ultra-fast chargers.
Thank you to all our customers for a fantastic year for BP Chargemaster and the Polar network!
