A selection of Public Sector case studies from Chargemaster
University Hospital North Midlands (Royal Stoke):
This Hospital has been very proactive encouraging members of staff to travel to work in a more sustainable way; be it cycling, public transport or electric vehicles.
Because of this they installed 2 x dual, wall mounted charge points in June 2016, that will be part of the POLAR network. Discussions are underway to potentially install a further 6 dual charging points between their other hospitals in Stoke and Stafford.
These charging points have been installed in a public car park and will be available for both visitors and hospital staff – who will be encouraged to charge for only half the day to make the
point available to others.
They chose Chargemaster because they were encouraged by the size of the POLAR network and the relationship we had with major manufacturers, meaning most EV drivers will already be
aware of POLAR through the dealer network.
As official charging partner to Mitsubishi Motors UK, Chargemaster were approached by Highways England, in advance of them taking delivery of Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV plug-in
hybrid vehicles at their Dartford Tunnel and Crossing facility in Kent, England.
As part of the trial for ultra-low emission vehicles on the Highways England fleet, these will first be used as convoy vehicles to escort hazardous chemical loads using the tunnel sections of the crossing.
To enable the Outlander PHEVs to be available 24/7 to carry out all journeys in ‘electric only’ mode, Chargemaster were chosen to install Rapid Charging at the Dartford facility, enabling the vehicle to charge up to 80% in less than 30 minutes – ideal for top up charging during drivers’ rest periods and breaks.
Chargemaster carried out the full installation and also provided driver training at the Dartford site.
